In order for Peter to fulfill the plan of God for his life, he had to be spiritually restored. Since his denial was public, his restoration has needed to be public. Failure, among other things, can invite spiritual drought. You’re invited to join us as we discuss the need and nature of spiritual restoration. Join us at 11:00 am.
Have you ever failed? Does the fear of failing again prevent your action? Peter failed. Aside from Judas, Peter failed in the most miserable way when he denied Jesus. John tells us that after breakfast, Jesus has a one on one conversation with Peter. What is He going to say? This breakfast, on the shore of the Sea of Galilee, where Jesus first called Simon Peter, is full of grace and full of restoration. In it we see just how Jesus responds to failure and how we should respond as well. Join us at 11:00, this Sunday morning, as we unpack with heartwarming and encouraging moment.
John 21 records an appearing of Jesus on the shore of the Sea of Galilee. Peter and six other disciples decided that they will go fishing. But these seasoned fishermen caught nothing, their nets were empty. Often our efforts will yield the exact same result and God will sometimes bring us to the point of emptiness so we might appreciate His provision. Join us at 11:00 am as we unpack this story.
Jesus’ appearing to His disciples was not the first appearing of Jesus after His resurrection, but it was His first to them. In this room, behind locked doors, Jesus appears in their midst. The doors were locked for they were afraid of the Jews and into that fear Jesus enters. He brings with Him a few blessings, they just merely needed to receive them. Please join us on Sunday Morning, at 11:00am to learn more. On Sunday evening we will be discussing Thomas. Thomas is well known for his doubt, but it wasn’t just his doubt that was the problem. To have doubt is to be human. But doubt can turn into disbelief, as displayed in Thomas, who would not believe unless he saw for himself. Disbelief is sinful. But the story isn’t about Thomas and his doubt. It really isn’t about you and your doubt. It’s about how God responds to those who doubt. Please join us at 6:00pm to learn more.
There was a problem with our recording this morning. We do apologize! We hope you have had a happy Easter!
Please don’t forget! There will be no services here this evening! You’re invited to join us on Thursday, for a Seder Meal. This is a celebration of the Last Supper Jesus had with His disciples prior to His crucifixion. Communion and Foot Washing will follow the meal. Join Us Sunday as the church choir performs “Simon of Cyrene,” a dramatic retelling of the events in Jerusalem, the Crucifixion, and the Resurrection.
Jesus entry into Jerusalem has long been called “The Triumphant Entry.” Jesus rode into Jerusalem much like a conquering king returning from battle, with all the celebration. But for Jesus, it was merely a temporary triumph. The crowd’s shouts of “Hosanna” would shortly turn into cries of “Crucify Him.” Their worship was real and yet superficial. Does Jesus have a “temporary triumph” in your life? Join us, live at 11:00am! Mark records that as Jesus was walking back into Jerusalem to join the festivities of the Passover, He grew hungry. Along the road He found a fig tree with leaves but no fruit. So Jesus curses the tree and it withers and dies. The ramifications of no fruit doesn’t merely effect the fig tree, but all God’s children. Join us, live at 6:00pm!
On His way back to Jerusalem, Jesus makes a stop into Jericho, 15 miles from Jerusalem. While in Jericho, He encounters two men, Zacchaeus and Bartimaeus. Both had a physical impairment that prevented them from “seeing.” Zacchaeus was too short to see over the crowd, and Bartimaeus was blind. Neither could properly see Jesus. But Jesus saw them. For Zacchaeus, a tree saved him. For Bartimaeus, a cry saved him. In both, Jesus showed His mission of mercy, which would conclude in Jerusalem in a few short days when He displayed His mercy in dramatic fashion on the cross. Please join us, at 11:00 am and 6:00 pm!
“When will the kingdom come?” This isn’t a new question. Jesus was asked by the Pharisees. His response, “it is not coming in ways that can be observed.” The Pharisees wondered when, the disciples wondered how. But what matters is that Jesus is! He speaks of the kingdom in terms of a present and a future reality and He makes it clear that He will come unexpectedly. Join us at 11:00 am.
